ANALYSIS OF THE BODY, LEGS, PAWS AND TAIL TYPE OF AUSTRALIAN MIST
AUSTRALIAN MIST STANDARD RELATED PORTIONS OF ABYSSINIAN STANDARD RELATED PORTIONS OF THE BURMESE STANDARD COMMENTS (AND THOSE DOMESTICS!)
The Australian Mist is a well balanced cat of moderate foreign type, with no tendency to extremes in any characteristic. The Abyssinian is a cat of foreign type of medium build, ... The Burmese is an elegant cat of foreign type which is positive and individual to the breed. All three share the concept of moderate foreign type, and consider it of such defining importance that it forms part of the Breed Standard preamble
BODY: Medium in length, hard and muscular, heavier than it appears; chest broad and round. The males may be slightly larger than the females with ... musculature more developed. Muscle development, .... achieve adult expression by 2 years of age

FAULTS: Poor muscle tone

BODY: Long, lithe, graceful and well balancedfirm, lithe and muscular, never large or coarse, giving an appearance of activity.

BODY: Of medium length and size, feeling hard and muscular, and heavier than its appearance indicates. The chest strong and rounded in profile, the back straight from shoulder to rump.
FAULTS: Cobbiness of British cat. Any suggestion of either Siamese type, or the cobbiness of a British cat must be regarded as a fault
Great similarity between our standard and Burmese - a much heavier, denser body required for these two in comparison with the more lithe, athletic much lighter weight body of the Aby.

LEGS: Proportionately strong, hind legs slightly higher than forelegs.FAULTS: Fine bones  LEGS: Relatively long and fine boned.

LEGS: Slender and in proportion to the body, hind legs slightly longer than front. Legs are fairly similar; the Aby leg is the longest and finest, the Burmese leg is intermediate, and our leg is actually at fault if it doesn’t have some substance
PAWS: Neat and oval

PAWS: Oval and compact. When standing should give the impression of being on tip-toes. PAWS: Neat and oval.

Our paws identical with the Burmese - the Abyssinian is truly tiny, and really does look as though it is a tip toe.
TAIL: Long, thick, minimal taper, well furred

FAULTS: Whippy or visibly kinked tail

TAIL: Thick at base, proportionately long and tapering. A whip is undesirable, kink not permissible

WITHHOLD FAULTS Kinked tail

TAIL: Straight and of medium length, not heavy at the base, and tapering only slightly to a rounded tip without defect. A visible kink precludes the award of a Challenge Certificate, but an invisible bone defect at the tip may be overlooked in an otherwise excellent specimen.
WITHHOLD FAULTS Visible kink
Each breed has a distinctive tail requirement; in all cases a visible kink is a fault, though we regard it as less serious than the Abyssinian and Burmese breeders do. (Visible kinks are included also under general faults for all breeds)
