MAINE COON
A natural breed of very large, semi longhair cat from North America, ‘Coons have gentle, lively ‘real cat’ faces and personalities. Very companionable, in a range of solid, tabby silver and tortie colours with and without white feet, bibs and faces, these charming cats are a genuine family member and the clown at any gathering. Every day care is a simple comb through, but with a bath, they spruce up to be superb Show Cats.

Oh, and yes, we do screen hips of all our breeding stock, and HCM DNA test , copies of parental tests available
when kittens are sold, whether for pet or breeding .
And why ICECOONS?
Because I hope to specialise in Silvers
and for sentiment's sake, because, long ago,
I was involved with the development of Silver Abyssinians,
and they all had 'Ice' as part of their name......
MY 60th BIRTHDAY PRESENT
PAWSPLUS CLEVER CLEO Just 4 months old, and growing places fast ....
By the time she finished as a kitten, she was leading (by one point!) the FCCV Kitten of the Year - having scored 2 Best in Shows, as well as Runners-Up. There is a lot of the year still to go, so I am sure that she will be overtaken, but it was a thrill while it lasted, and we have printed off the page to keep in her records. And oh yes, she has had a firstcall - very lady like - just one day. Well, she can keep that to herself for a while!!! She's got shows to go to! She started her adult career with one Top 10 placing - not bad as she now looks decidedly immature amongst the oldies!
Cleo is having a pawse ( actually she had 16 paws!! - attached to 4 delightful dark mackerel slugs - 2 with white feet and bibs). I'm looking forward to putting her onto the bench when her babies (to Ferdinand) have grown, she has really matured with this pregnancy.
And that Edouard - well he now packs a considerable punch, and has many Top 10 placings to his credit, as well as having worked out what girls are for .......
see the results at Kyra's website at www.rumplteeza.com
REALLY EXCITING NEWS - EDOUARD MADE IT INTO THE 2005 FCCV
TOP FIVE GROUP 1 EXHIBITS OF THE YEAR
WITH FOURTH PLACE (and he is a Daddy, too)
And that young Deraia finally had a litter of ONE! Georgiana, followed swiftly by a litter of FOUR.
Litter of 4 did reduce to 3 - the tiny blue boy just melted away ...
COOLCOONS CAPELLA who came to live here in mid 2005 is growing into a glowing girl
The georgeous Cleo is now back on the bench after making 4 delicious babies with Ferdinand. These babies are now ready for new homes. Isis is a silver powderpuff of a girl, and was placed in the Top Five at her first show. Of the two boys, Isander has been placed twice - including BEST LONGHAIR KITTEN in SHOW, Isidorus has also been placed twice, whilst the remaining little girl, Ismene has always been the bridesmaid. These kittens would make superb show cats, they love their outings, all would make superb family pets - and they all sound like buzz saws when at rest ..... Probably the best litter all round that I have bred so far.
The members of this litter have grown into positively splendid cats, above is Isander, who has started the Show year (2007) with a Best in Show! At the last 2006 show (9 months and 1 day old) - he won a Reserve and a third in Show ..... Cleo their Mum is now my VERY FIRST CCCA CHAMPION, AND GROWS STILL MORE BEAUTIFUL - and so big and heavy ....The girl on the bottom right is Ismene, and she has 6 babies to Edouard - absolute tearaways, with exceedingly good personalities ---
Below is the view of them doing what they do best - the day before they won
SUPREME LITTER OR GROUP AT THE 2007 FCCV OPEN SHOW!!!
Of greatest excitement is finally achieving that long awaited red boy - Capella didn't and didn't and didn't - so had a little flush out - then she did!! and oh boy are they delicious! Coolcoons Merlin is to be congratulated on a most sterling effort!
We have called the boy Leonidas and he is definitely staying (John walks around cuddling him, so that is QUITE clear) and I would like to keep the straight tortie, Lollia, while Lydia, the sweet little silver tortie went to a lucky new owner.
I sander grows apace, and is fighting a very handsome Norwegian Forest Cat for THIRD PLACE in the 2007 FCCV Cat of the YEAR. While I'm sure he is quite able, he hasn't yet had the opportunity .....OYEZ, OYEZ .... ISANDER SURPASSED HIMSELF,
FCCV 2007 RUNNER UP TO LONGHAIR CAT OF THE YEAR!!
From the 'Flokati rug' of Brown and blue tabbies, Kensington had gone as a show Neuter, and has won two Best Kitten in Show, and 2 Reserve Kitten in Show for his very thrilled new owner. His sisters, Khoisan and Kirsten are both growing into beautiful looking lasses ( but the naughty minxes have been calling .....)
Our 2008 breeding season has started well with three quite delightful kittens from Isander and Hestia - probably the best heads I have produced so far ....
And of course, you haven't seen Leonidas, and his mate Jeraboam , both big lads. Here they are 6 months old ...
During 2005 we were honoured to be visited by Mary and Mitch from Rumtumtugger (!!) Maine Coons, and we hit it off right away. They live in the UK, but I love to peruse their site, to see what they are up to - I'm sure you would love to meet them too - they are real carers for cats ....I saw Mary again in 2006, and showed her my new stock - and this year she met her new stud, Onyx , and a new girl Prunella - just after the very first litters of Australian Mist were born in the UK ......I'm sure that they also rate a mention on her site!.............
http://www.rumtumtuggermainecoons.com
Mary visited us again early in 2008, and we had a delicious Australian Mist event to celebrate ONYX's win of Australian Mist Exhibit of the Year from the AMCFA's Australia Wide Competition. While we have a had a couple of litters during 2008, at the moment we are undegoing something of a drought. The beauteous Pawsplus Clever Cleo never succeeded in having another litter (I'm very pleased I kept two from her one and only!) but she has exceeded all expectations by becoming CCCAGdCh Diamond Gd Ch Pawsplus Clever Cleo, and reigns over all the other girls with grace and firmness. Isander has reached Spph Gd Ch, is a daddy, and was 4th Best Group 1 Cat in 2008 - so who can complain ....
Finally, the drought is over, and the handsome Isander is a daddy again - 5 this time!
Hestia is again the bride. All Brown tabby & white, here are a couple to view - I am keeping Praxilla who looks almost identical to Poppaea (on the left).
Ismene
Ismene of the carpet of kittens above, has also been busy, with Jeri's first litter. These babies are three, 2 boys and a girl, all brown tabbies+/- white. They will be ready in December (2009).
AND Isander is now a CCCA CH and Diamond Grand Champion - wow, that Cleo sure had the genes, even if somewhat parsimonious about sharing them!
We have availed ourselves of the Maine Coon HCM test available through Washington State University Veterinary Cardiac Genetics Laboratory, and are pleased to report that all the descendents of Edouard, Ferdinand, Deraia, and Cleo (including the Supreme litter, and Isander) are negative. We have a couple of heterozygotes - but the problem is of manageable proportions, and I hope that in another generation we will be completely clear ....
If you haven't found the site yourself here it is!
Test Your Cat
Its a simple process, not excessively expensive, and they are very helpful ...... The same test is now available in Australia, taking less time ( and costing less!)
And it is a long time, but here are some pics of my new round of DNA tested HCM 'free' breeding girls and boys.
FIRSTLY: IN MY ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN THAT ELUSIVE TORTIE AND WHITE FROM DERAIA & LEONIDAS, I CAME UP WITH THIS HANDSOME LAD:
ICECOONS RADAGAST
He is a wonderful show cat, with a loving nature, and rather better ears than I might rightfully have hoped for.
Here he is with his friends
and here in solitary splendour;
His lovely pattern and colour are much commented on.
WE ALSO HAVE 2 LADIES:
Ch Icecoons Praxilla is now in waiting ( having another go at breeding that elusive tortie and white!!)
And our current show bunny, Gd Ch Icecoons Qasida is all over the place with her growth spurts!
And , at last we THINK we might be able to get back to our original intention to breed SILVERS - soon.
Praxilla had 6 lovely kittens to Gd Ch Rumpleteeza Neelix, Cream Silver Classic Tabby . Would you believe it, 5 BOYS and only 1 GIRL, and she is a tortie tabby - no white - so I'm still after that elusive tortie and white girl... the boys are lovely - 3 silver classic tabby & whites, with quite a lot of white, 1 brown classic tabby and one brown classic tabby and white - with just white scuffs...
It is a long time since I have added to this page, and that tortie silver girl has grown up, and had babies of her own, and we do have one of my heart's desires - a brown classic tabby and white girl - Winifred, and we were also lucky to breed a delightful brown tortie girl, Xaria, from a totally different line as her companion - indeed they were born on the same day!
Qasida managed a singleton - which she then wanted to abandon, and so Yehudi was raised by a Siamese queen with 2 Oriental kittens. Quite a wild lad - must be the Oriental influence! I din't intend to even run him on, but he won Best in Show when just a few days over 12 weeks old ......
Magnificent Mum
WE ARE VERY PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE FINALLY HAVE ALL DNA TESTABLE HCM FREE BREEDING STOCK. ITS TAKEN A LONG TIME, AND MEANT THAT MORE THAN ONE MATING HAS BEEN NEEDED TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED NEXT GENERATION.
Due to stressful family circumstances, I have placed a great many of my retired Maine Coons, and I am very pleased with the wonderful homes that they have found, and with the way even recently retired stud cats have settled in, behaved in a gentlemanly manner, and thoroughly won the hearts of their new owners. Thanks all round to the adoptive parents, and this wonderful breed! (They are almost as good as Australian Mists!!)
My latest litters, are from a beautiful girl, Icecoons Winifred, ( left) and the lovely Rumpleteeza Lady Penzance, my husbands final gift.
Thanks to the wonderful contribution from Icecoons Schroedinger and Rumpleteeza Lady Penzance, I am, after all these years, finally able to return to my initial intention of breeding silver Maine Coons. A bit ironic, considering that I am still reducing my Coon numbers!!
Below are my two lovely lads: Icecoons Dandelion, and Icecoons Elderberry . These lads are just coming up to 1 year old, so hoping to have some of their progeny next spring.
DANDELION
ELDERBERRY
The wonderful Lady P is still breeding, and her first daughter, Elderberry's sister, Eglantine has reared her second litter
Now growing up, also from Lady P, sisters, both silver, and one (Poppy) that I have been waiting for, for a long time....
wives, I hope, for Dandelion
ICECOONS ICELAND POPPY & ICECOONS IPOMEA
After waiting nearly 2 years, both Poppy and Ippy finally called. Dandelion was the lucky boy ......
Unfortunately, Ippy's babies were born premature, and only one survived, but Poppy's litter
was stunning ----

Another rainbow litter from Lady Penzance
June 2018 Long time since I have updated.
Lady Penzance has now retired, seen here with her last
litter and grandchildren from Iceland Poppy here seen with her litter as babies.
Her sister Ipomea ( below) excelled herself with a litter of 8!
Including an exciting blue silver & white daughter, Icecoons Sweet Pea
and pretending to be edible, seen beside her, friend Icecoons Thistle
from Poppy & Isander.
My first Elderberry kittens were born in spring 2018, and I kept Violet (RH below).....
The girl on the left is Utricularia, from Dandelion & Poppy
and I seem to have overlooked pretty Icecoons Quintinia ( Eglantine x Ferdinand)
AND FINALLY
I splashed out and bought an excessively friendly lass, Sakura Sue of Takashi
seen here 'possessing'me!
Just a wee update with new pictures of Suzie, Violet & Sweet Pea all adult proven queens
Plus a somewhat exciting lad - red silver Icecoons Blissful and Black Smoke & White girl Icecoons Elusive.
Now young adults.
Well overdue for an update , here are some of my current ladies.
